Jess D. Aguirre, Jr. is a veteran television executive, media researcher, consultant, and author with more than three decades of experience at ABC Television Network, Warner Bros. Television, and Crown Media/Hallmark Channel. His career has focused on audience research, programming strategy, content development, and understanding the connection viewers form with entertainment.
As one of the founding executives of Crown Media and a member of Hallmark Channel’s founding executive team, Aguirre helped launch Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Hallmark Drama, and the Hallmark Movies Now streaming service, contributing to the company’s growth into a cultural touchstone during the holiday season. His experience gave him a unique perspective on the powerful connection audiences form with television that celebrates family, relationships, hope, tradition, and shared values.
Aguirre has served on the Executive Board of Directors of the Media Rating Council, has been affiliated with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the Advertising Research Foundation, and formerly served as co-chair of the National Media Insights Conference. He was also recognized by the Cable Television Association as one of cable television’s most influential minorities in television.
Today, he is Principal of Magellan Media Ventures, where he brings decades of television, research, and audience experience to media consulting, publishing, and commentary on the changing entertainment landscape.
